Hudson's 100 Good Wishes Quilt
To welcome and celebrate a new life, there is a tradition in the northern part of China to make a Bai Jia Bei, or "100 Wishes Quilt." It is a custom to invite 100 people to contribute a single square of patch of cloth. The 100 patches are sewn together into a quilt that contains good wishes and prayers from all the families and friends who contributed a piece of fabric. The quilt is then passed down from generation to generation. Our Quilt will represent the good wishes and prayers for our baby.
We would love for our family and friends to send Hudson a special piece of fabric. Select a fabric that is meaningful to you and reminds you of him. In China, the quilt is originally made from garments of family and friends, which would surround the child with good wishes and love. You can send a cute, new piece of fabric or a piece cut from your garment. Here are the details:
- 8" X 8" piece of fabric; Send one piece of fabric or as many as you would like...possibly one per family member.
- 100% Cotton Fabric is best
- With each fabric you send, also send a note explaining why that fabric is special to you AND/OR write a blessing for Hudson. When he looks at each square on his quilt, he will be reminded of the best wishes and prayers that you prayed for him. We plan to put the best wishes and prayers in a scrapbook.
- Fabric that we have already received and some notes attached.....
